• The advent of advent

That was a nice seven-and-a-bit month gap in my blogging...

My return is down to procrastination needs. There are several things I should really be doing so this is a preferable option.

In terms of The Housemates, all has changed! Napper Housemate's friend never moved in, and Napper housemate moved out! Instead we have Book Loving Housemate and Doctor Housemate, who is Fake Tanned Housemate's friend from halls. Book Loving Housemate brought with him fourteen boxes of books, which litter the house. He also likes to listen to Viva La Vida, all the time. In the shower, on repeat, every, single, day. He thinks it's pretty funny whenever anyone feigns frustration at this!

We had our first house conflict of the year this month, when Enormous Breasted Housemate freaked out at Fake Tanned Housemate. Aside from this, all is well.

I'm just in from work, which is a video shop. Something people don't realise about video shops is that we have a lot of regular customers, some of whom are lovely, but many of whom are mad, odd or confused drunks. Today, among others, I had Counter Smacking Man. He's unfortunately an aggressive deaf alocholic, but to be honest, that much counter smacking gets a bit scary.

    Anyhow,
8:10, I'd say it's tea time. Potato and stuffing is in order.

  • A resolution.

An upshot of the day is that we have potentially found our two new housemates. New Girl Housemate is a friend of Napper Housemate's, who I have met before. Napper Housemate discovered she's been hunting for a place to live today and it all slotted into place! New Boy Housemate is Future Enormous Breasted Housemate's friend from her course, and he think's he's up to the challenge of living with six girls (he also mentioned that he is happy to become a girl...)

So that's that, may the games begin.

Internet Housemate has still not been sighted, and has now gone to Dublin (I was notified by text). Milk Phobia Housemate is still struggling in the house hunting department, and in the exam stress department (I attempted to reassure her with the fact that exams are over a month away, but this had not much effect...). Napper Housemate has been only briefly spotted, but is apparently sleeping at night time which is a positive development. Tension between Milk Phobia Housemate and Napper Housemate is pretty high. Fake Tanned Housemate has hosted a poker night in the living room tonight with Gay Friend, Gay Friend's Housemate and Future Enormous Breasted Housemate (Future Enormous Breasted Housemate is a future housemate, rather than a housemate who will in the future have enormous breasts, just to clarify...), and judging by the lack of noise they have headed somewhere else. The Rock Housemate has been supportive in my essay writing capabilities so has done her Rock duty for the day. Chemistry Housemate is once again, nowhere to be seen. May check her room tomorrow.

Another upside, no losses today. Also haven't found the tweezers but that's most probably as I haven't looked for them.

Step one towards becoming a healthier person- Accidental overdose on Cod Liver Oil pills. Joint Care, Oh Yeah.

  • Another day another essay

Panicking Friend is surprisingly unpanicked after all, though the result of being unpanicked is graduating six months late and spending an extra 1500 pounds on tuition. Better than being panicked, he supposes.

Turned out nobody had read Daniel Deronda, so class was a bit of a slow mover this morning. Renaissance was 'Erotic' week, and had a nice focus on mastubatory fantasy poetry. Just what you need on a Thursday afternoon. If it's an interest of yours, check out John Donne and Thomas Nashe, those dirty fiends. The outcome of the class was that the essay I'd decided I wouldn't do after all is slightly compulsory, and is due in tomorrow. A late night awaits.

Formal tickets are bought, and Fake Tanned Housemate, Napper Housemate, American Friend and Gay Friend are coming along for kicks. Await Wednesday with anticipation.

  • Losing my Life

I would like to use the blog to record my losing things. This can include real losing things, like losing them outside and never finding them again, or losing things inside and having the potential to find them again.

This week has been both bad and good, bad since I lost the cheque my Grandma had sent me for my birthday, ON THE WAY TO THE BANK, and lost my favourite jacket. And had no idea where. Bought six cardigans to replace said jacket. Good since cheque went on tour of the UK and went back to Grandma who has sent it back to me, and will hopefully this time make it to the bank, and since jacket was found behind the sofa.

Also retrieved hoodie which Napper Housemate has become attached to.

The only thing I can currently think of that is lost is tweezers. Outcome of this is unplucked eyebrows, which I can live with.

  • White tack sucks.

My posters and postcards and beer mats are all falling off the wall on top of me, and it's all because of white tack, Blu-Tak's inferior cousin.

Been thinking about getting down to business today, actually start doing some essay writing, etc. So went to the library after work. The outcome was that I've actually done much less work this term than I thought I had! Marvellous. And in conclusion have not much of an idea about the Renaissance. Have begun to fix this by watching the first half hour of Elizabeth.

Still on the agenda is finding two housemates for July, and trying to maintain some sort of peace with current battling housemates. Napper Housemate and Milk Phobia Housemate apparently cannot talk about Milk Phobia Housemate's current house hunting predicament since that means acknowledging that she is moving out. Which surely goes without saying since it was decided a good while ago that they weren't so suited to living together.

Haven't seen Internet Housemate for a while though I suspect she is in the house, as her door creaks and I did hear it this morning. Chemistry Housemate is also in the building although silent and invisible. Last sighting was yesterday, in the kitchen. Currently making Orange Stuff I'm pleased to know. The Rock Housemate is doing work, stably of course, though as far as I know hasn't had to act as a rock today, which I'm sure has been nice for her. Fake Tanned Housemate has been shopping and is very pleased with herself, bag, jeans, tops etc! Napper Housemate has also been shopping, but of the Tesco variety. I know this from the excess of garlic bread in the fridge.

And what kind of housemate am I, I wonder? Alas not the best kind, but hopefully not the worst either. It has been mentioned that I might have to step in for The Rock Housemate when she leaves in July, and be The Sensible One. A terrifying concept.

Tomorrow am having lunch with Panicking Friend. Apparently the latest panic is resolved but I'm sceptical.

But for now I should read a bit of Daniel Deronda, so here I go.
